Mexican Oregano Essential Oil
$7.00 – $40.00
100% Pure Mexican Oregano (Lippia graveolens) Essential Oil. Although more closely-related to Lemon Verbena than true Oregano (Origanum vulgare), Mexican Oregano smells and tastes notably similar to its Mediterranean Oregano counterpart. Also similar, are the anti-fungal Carvacrol and Thymol components of their essential oils.
Batch LG-001 (December, 2018)
This batch of Mexican Oregano essential oil was steam distilled in Western North Carolina from Lippia graveolens leaves that were wild-harvested and dried in Mexico. The aroma is much like traditional Oregano but with extra savory spice and a slight musk. Mexican Oregano is often used in place of Oregano in spicier Latin American dishes.
Carvacrol and Thymol are the dominant chemical compounds found in this essential oil and they are known to have some great antiviral and antifungal properties.* As this oil is very concentrated, it is always best to dilute in a carrier oil for use on the body. In fact the above-referenced studies suggest that the essential oil is effective in concentrations well below 5%. It has also been studied for tick and other pest control applications.
