Eastern Red Cedar (Leaf) Essential Oil
Description
Batch JV-006 (November 2018):
Sustainably harvested from no-spray landscape trimmings in Asheville, NC. Eastern Red Cedar is actually a Juniper, as indicated by its botanical name (Juniperus virginiana), that is native across the Eastern United States. This is not the same species as “Cedar Leaf Oil” commonly on the market (Thuja plicata, or rarer “True Cedar” Cedrus spp.). Each 5ml bottle contains the pure aromatic essence of 2.8 lbs of fresh needles and small branches!
Steam-distilled from the needles and blond wood of the smaller branches, this oil has a bright, sweet, citrusy aroma that smells nothing like “Cedarwood” oil or the red cedar wood used in closets and cedar chests. “Cedarwood Virginia” oil is made from the red heartwood of the same species.
Leaf essential oil from Juniper species is known to be diuretic and clarifying and is commonly used in meditation and detox routines.*
