Batch PPS-004 (March, 2021)

This limited batch of Blue Spruce (Picea pungens) essential oil was made from a beautiful no-spray landscape tree that was unfortunately growing too close to a house here in our little mountain cove (Madison County, NC). The species is native to the Rocky Mountains but is often planted here in the Southern Appalachians as a stately landscape specimen. It is a very hardy tree that requires little to no maintenance. You may also find this species called “Idaho Blue Spruce” or “Colorado Blue Spruce.” Our Blue Spruce essential oil is made from only needles and small branches (very little wood; to prevent turpentine-like aromas).

We don’t often have access to this species so this small batch is very limited. It is also very concentrated; each 5ml bottle has the aromatic essence from 3 lbs of fresh needles and small branches! 5% or less dilution is suggested for topical use or for a chest/beard oil that clears the respiratory system.  It is reported to have hormone-mimicking properties and increase testosterone levels.* It is also anti-bacterial and fantastic in the bath or shower; we like to drop a few drops of the pure oil on the shower curtain for an aromatherapeutic steam-shower experience. We find the pleasing forest-y aroma has a comforting effect on the mood and mind.
